66-year-old Fayetteville man dies after car strikes two pedestrians on MLK

 
A Fayetteville man died and a woman was injured after the two were struck by a vehicle on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Monday evening.

Gregory Joseph Dana, 66, of Fayetteville, was crossing the street just after 6 p.m. west of Hollywood Avenue in an area where there is no crosswalk or intersection, according to a preliminary police report. A westbound 2010 Ford Expedition then struck Dana along with Emily Juanitta Waterman, 26, who was trying to stop him, according to the report.

Dana was pronounced dead at Washington Regional Medical Center and Waterman is being treated for injuries, police said.

A corporal with the Fayetteville Police Department reported that it was raining at the time of the crash.
