Local auto repair shop The Grease Pig has changed hands.
The owners of University Auto and Tire, Will and Bernadette Helton, have purchased the business’s two Fayetteville locations from Kent and Melissa Atkins, according to a press release issued Wednesday.
The Atkins family have owned the shop for 23 years.
“Melissa and I are proud to announce that we are passing the torch to the next generation of The Grease Pig,” read a post about the sale on Facebook Wednesday. “We are so very proud to have been a member of the of the Fayetteville Small Business community for the past 23 years (almost to the day!) Thank you to ALL the customers that have become friends over these years!”
The Heltons plan to continue to operate all three locations, the press release said.
University Auto & Tire is located at 614 N. College Avenue. The Grease Pig has locations at 2897 N. Colllege Ave and 1499 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
