There are several opportunities to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. in Fayetteville.
The Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Council recently announced a series of events that includes a discussion with Nikole Hannah-Jones, the Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of the 1619 Project and staff writer at The New York Times Magazine.
Organizers of the Community Service Project, who’ve been gathering winter clothing for those in need, will hold their primary sorting activity from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 13 at John L Colbert Middle School. The collaborative effort is organized by the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the NWA MLK Council. Donations and volunteers are needed.
The annual Recommitment Celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Fayetteville Public Library (tickets here).
A free event is also planned in Bentonville on Friday, Jan. 12 at Crystal Bridges (info here).
