Child dies in crash on Fulbright Expressway in Fayetteville

A child was killed and four adults were injured in a head-on collision on the Fulbright Expressway in Fayetteville early Sunday, according to a preliminary police report.

The crash happened at about 4:35 a.m. when a 27-year-old Farmington man was driving eastbound in the westbound lane on the expressway in a 2019 Toyota Camry.

The Toyota struck a 2009 Chevrolet Equinox that was driving in the westbound lane, causing “severe front end damage” to both vehicles and resulting in the death of a minor female passenger (no age given) in the Chevrolet.

Both drivers and two other passengers were injured in the crash and were taken to area hospitals, the report states.

The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the collision, according to a state trooper.
