A new sake company based in Arkansas will host a tasting event in Fayetteville next week.

Hot Springs-based Origami Sake will host an ‘Izakaya’ at Maxine’s Tap Room beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22.

Local chef Darwin Beyer from Meiji Japanese Cuisine will be on hand to provide 5 Japanese pub snacks at the event, and each item will be served with the filtered and unfiltered sakes from Origami.

Maxine’s will also be making two custom saki cocktails that evening for sale separately from the tasting package.

Origami, who began making sake from Arkansas rice in Hot Springs in 2022 and began selling in Arkansas last year, will be on hand as well to provide info about their product and some merch to give away.

In addition to the food and drink, DJ Odeon Collective will provide the music.

Tickets to the sake tasting are $30 available at the event.
