Fayetteville schools closed Monday due to winter weather

Fayetteville Public Schools are closed once again on Monday, Jan. 22 due to winter precipitation that fell overnight.

Freezing rain fell overnight on Sunday night into Monday morning causing slick road conditions in the area.

From the announcement:

Due to the ice storm in our area and the impact it has had on road conditions, Fayetteville Public Schools will be closed on Monday, January 22, for a snow day. The safety of our students and our staff members is always our top priority. 

Road conditions are slick this morning, could improve over the course of the day as temperatures are expected to reach 41 degrees later on Monday.

The University of Arkansas plans to have a delayed opening on Monday, with campus opening and classes set to begin at 12:30 p.m. Razorback Transit will begin operations at 11:30 a.m., officials said.
