The city’s Environmental Action Committee is looking for volunteers to help with an invasive species removal event next week.

The event will take place from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in the Fay Jones Woods, not far from Fayetteville Public Library.

The cleanup was originally scheduled for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

Volunteers will receive tools and training necessary to identify and remove the invasive species.

Sturdy shoes and long sleeves are recommended.

No advanced signups are required, and volunteers can just show up to the event to participate. Volunteers should meet up at Fayetteville Public Library’s south parking lot.
