Gulley Park Playground project nears completion

One of the city’s most popular playgrounds is close to re-opening with brand new equipment, city officials said today.

The playground at Gulley Park that has been closed for improvements since last summer is set to re-open later this spring. Scheduled improvements include new playground equipment with swings, a tot area, a ping pong and chess area, an interactive fountain, a pavilion, new landscaping and other amenities.

City of Fayetteville officials posted an update on the project on Facebook Thursday.

From the post:

The new playground at Gulley Park is taking shape! Surfacing around the tower was laid last week.

Ongoing improvements to Gulley Park – which are expected to be finished this spring – include a pavilion, interactive fountain, new playground equipment, landscaping and other amenities.

Additional information on improvements planned at Gulley Park is available at fayetteville-ar.gov.

The improvements are expected to cost around $1.4 million, and are funded in part by a $220,000 grant from the state.

Officials said if all goes well, the playground will reopen to the public by the second week of May.
