School district to recommend assistant band director for new Director of Fine Arts position

Fayetteville Public Schools will recommend Trey Antonetti, who has served as an assistant band director and color guard director at Fayetteville High School since 2011, for the district’s new Director of Fine Arts position, officials announced this week.

The recommendation will go before the school board during its Feb. 29 meeting for final approval.

“The Director of Fine Arts is a new position that the district has been discussing for a couple of years,” superintendent Dr. John Mulford said. “We had an outstanding pool of candidates, and we are happy to see it come to fruition and be filled by someone of Trey’s caliber and commitment. We have outstanding fine arts programs, and I am confident he will do an excellent job in this new role.”

Antonetti said in a statement that he was “thrilled and grateful” to be the first director of fine arts for the district.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity to advocate for and support our fine arts faculty and staff in shaping the artistic landscape within our schools and community,” Antonetti said. “I look forward to working with our teachers and administrators in continuing the excellence our programs are known for and finding new and exciting ways to inspire creativity and foster a love for the arts for all FPS students.”
