The Fayetteville school board voted last week to approve new roles for three district administrators.

The board approved Justin Keen as the Outdoor Education and Sustainability Specialist; Sarah Jewell as the Director of Pre-K Education; and Jason Edwards as principal of the newly expanded K-8 SOAR Academy.

“I am pleased to see Justin, Sarah, and Jason assume new roles in our district,” said superintendent Dr. John Mulford in a press release. “These positions provide important services to our students and teachers, and I am confident they will be very successful.”

Keen, a 7th grade science teacher at Ramay Jr. High, has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas. He has worked for Fayetteville Public Schools since 2012.

Jewell, an assistant principal at Happy Hollow Elementary, has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas, a master’s degree in library science from the University of Central Arkansas, and an educational specialist degree from Arkansas State University. She has worked for Fayetteville Public Schools since 2011 and will replace Kathleen Hale, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Edwards, a principal at Root Elementary, has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. He has worked for Fayetteville Public Schools since 2005.

The new roles will take effect in the summer of 2024.
