Daylight savings time begins this weekend, and that means next week might be a little bit rough for people who aren’t too enthused about waking up an hour earlier than normal. On the plus side, it won’t be pretty much dark outside when you get to work and dark when you leave, so that’s nice.
That also means that the spring busy season is beginning in Fayetteville. Hope you like doing things.
The fun this week starts on Thursday. There’s a big show at JJ’s Live with country acts Red Clay Strays and John Hollier. Red Clay Strays have been making waves online this year. Listen here. JJ’s Live also has a show on Saturday night with a Dave Matthews Tribute.
George’s will kick their weekend off on Friday with locals, The Hardtops, followed by a country show with Sam Barber and Sam Stoane. On Saturday, they’ll host Fayetteville Junior Civic League’s I Love Fayetteville Big Party, and on Sunday, they have another country show with John Baumann and Grayson Sanders.
Also in tunes, Mount Sequoyah Center is hosting outdoor music again with their Music on the Mountain series. Local songwriter Shannon Wurst will play the series at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
There’s also a cool electronic show at West & Watson with Nugstufr, Wooflet and Sunwriter on Saturday night.
It’s a great weekend for theatre in Fayetteville as well. We’ve heard great things about UA Theatre’s new show The Prom, as well as TheatreSquared’s latest production, Cambodian Rock Band. There are several chances to see both of those shows this weekend.
Up north, you could see a family show at 2 p.m. at The Jones Center on Saturday with a performance by Fayetteville songwriter Candy Lee and her children’s band, the Backyard Bugs.
A little further north, the Momentary will host their second ever electronic music festival, Momentous, this weekend. The festival will be headlined by Dirtwire and Mura Masa, and also includes performances by Acid Katz, A Hundred Drums, Balkan Bump, Canabliss, and more. Here’s more info about the festival.
It’s also another huge weekend for Razorback sports, with the baseball team, softball team, gymnastics team, volleyball team, and soccer team playing in town this weekend (see the list below for specific game times).
There’s more below, too. Click around down there for more information on anything that sounds interesting. Have a great weekend, everyone.
