Is it just us, or has this week been pretty much one weekday after another every day since Monday? Sure seems like it. That’s all about to come to an end, though. It’s weekend time.
This is the first weekend without UA students, most of which wrapped up their finals and headed home last weekend. There’s already been a noticeable change in traffic around here.
There’s still plenty happening around town, though. Music-wise, George’s has tribute bands on Friday night with Zep-LA Led Zeppelin Tribute for happy hour, followed by Bohemian Queen for the late night show. On Saturday, they’ll host locals Cadillac Jackson and Vintage Pistol.
Also in music, there’s a free show in the Lower Ramble featuring music by Velvet Horn Quartet, along with live art by muralist Tommy Tropical and a painting class by Community Creative Center. Here’s more about that.
Smoke & Barrel has a rock show on Saturday featuring a four-band bill of Years Down, The Storyline, Midnight Wagon and Idle Valley.
Artosphere Festival Orchestra is set to retire after this year’s festival, but not before a performance at Walton Arts Center on Saturday night. They’ll be performing Verdi’s Requiem. Here’s more.
There are not one, but two crawfish or shrimp boils happening in Fayetteville this weekend. One of them is called Low Country Broil, a shrimp boil happening at Mount Sequoyah Center at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and the other is a crawfish boil called Founders Crawfish Boil benefitting the Children’s Safety Center of Washington County at 11 a.m. on Saturday at George’s.
The Ozark Natural Science Center will host a benefit and concert for their new satellite location in Fayetteville on Saturday. It’s called Call of the Wild, and will include music by Still on the Hill, Winslow Depot, and Daniel Moody, along with activities, food, and more at the new Lake Fayetteville facility, located at 599 E Lakeview Drive in Springdale. Here’s more.
Up north, there’s a big show at the AMP with 21 Savage performing on Saturday night. Also this weekend, the annual FreshGrass festival returns to the Momentary. Headliners include Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Trampled by Turtles, Aoife O’Donovan, Molly Tuttle, and more.
There’s a big old Fayetteville Party happening on Sunday. The first ever Fayetteville Strawberry Festival will take place on the square. The event, organized by the Downtown Fayetteville Coalition, will include two stages of live music featuring a host of local performers including Trout Fishing in America, Noah Richmond’s Little Monster, Gone Country, Newco, 360 All Stars Circus, Dandelion Heart, Abbey Pierce Band, and Jumpsuit Jamey. In addition to the music, the new event will include a pie competition, dog parade, food demos, beer sampling, a local artist faire, street dance, and more
Also on Sunday, Folk School of Fayetteville will celebrate a year at their location inside the Walker Stone House with some bluegrass tunes, squaredance, and more. Here’s more about that.
There’s more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
