A grand opening celebration of the WOKA Trail System has been postponed due to wet weather.

The event was set for May 17, but officials said the continued threat of more rain and mud covering the parking area has made the surface unusable and unsafe.

The trails are nestled into the trees just south of Siloam Springs, and feature both a paved greenway and about 14 miles of soft-surface mountain biking trails connecting AR Hwy 59 to the new WOKA Whitewater Park.

Local group Trailblazers partnered with the City of Siloam Springs, Northwest Arkansas Land Trust, CEI Engineering, Rock Solid Trail Contracting and Crossland Construction on the project.

A new date for the celebration will be announced soon, according to a news release from Trailblazers.
