War Eagle Appreciation Day to celebrate 20th annual event

The 20th Annual War Eagle Appreciation Day will is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at the Kieth Ham Pavilion in Withrow Springs State Park near Huntsville.

The celebration will feature a variety of free, family-friendly activities provided by local organizations, focusing on water, wildlife, history, and tourism.

The event will include educational and interactive activities, a free lunch and a live performance by Paul & The Pilgrims. Attendees will also have the chance to enter raffle prize drawings, with a grand prize of a kayak.

Prior to the main event, a guided nature hike will begin at 10:30 a.m. The hike will cover a 1.5-mile loop on the War Eagle Trail. The hike is rated as easy, with little elevation change, and is expected to take 45 minutes to an hour to complete.

Participants are also invited to join the “Pick Up Where You Paddle” initiative on War Eagle Creek, offering discounted boat rental rates and free cleanup supplies. The discounted rates are available from May 31 to June 2. Rentals can be booked online at www.oaroutdoor.com using the code PUWYP24.
