Godspeed You! Black Emperor coming to George’s

Godspeed You! Black Emperor just released a handful of new dates for their 2024 tour. Only 14 of them are in the United States, and most of them are on the East Coast.

But one of them, the one we care about most, is happening right smack in the middle of Fayetteville, Arkansas on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at George’s Majestic Lounge.

The French-Canadian post-rock band has been performing since 1994, and released their latest album G_d’s Pee at State’s End! in 2021. The band was active through around 2003, but returned after a 7-year hiatus in 2010. Their ‘post-reunion’ period has lasted 14 years, and resulted in four new albums including their latest release. The band is considered to have defined what protest music could be, and developed a huge cult following for their music, described as “longform instrumental chamber rock compositions of immense feeling and power (that) serve as soundtracks to late capitalist alienation and resistance.”

The show is being promoted by On The Map, who has been responsible for most of the biggest indie shows in Fayetteville in recent years.

Tickets are $37.50, and go on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 7.
