Bats and Bluegrass Festival planned in Cave Springs

(Illinois River Watershed Partnership)

Get ready for the annual Bats and Bluegrass Festival.

This year’s event is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 at the Watershed Sanctuary in Cave Springs (221 S. Main St.).

The event will feature live music from Greenland Station Bluegrass, local food options, and educational activities for all ages. Attendees may also see bats emerging from Cave Springs Cave.

The festival will also include face painting, a guided hike with a native plant expert, a scavenger hunt, and other family-friendly activities.

The festival serves as a fundraiser for the Illinois River Watershed Partnership (IRWP). Suggested donations are $10 for individuals, $30 for families or groups, with children attending for free. A $50 donation package includes a meal and a t-shirt.

Advance registration is recommended for planning purposes. Registration details can be found at IRWP’s website. Volunteers are needed and can contact the organizers via email at [email protected] or by phone at 479-203-7084.
