Mission Boulevard Trail work to close Eastwood Drive at Mission Boulevard for two weeks

(City of Fayetteville)

FAYETTEVILLE — The entrance to Eastwood Drive from Mission Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic for two weeks starting today (July 2).

The closure will occur during working hours, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., with traffic detoured to the nearby Kings Drive.

The closure is part of the construction of the Mission Boulevard Trail project, which involves extending the shared-use paved trail from Viewpoint Drive to Maple Street. The new 1.5-mile section of trail will pass by Root Elementary School and cross Old Wire at North Street. South of North Street, the trail will run on the west side of Mission Boulevard to Maple Street.

An improved on-street bikeway from Mission Boulevard along Rebecca Street to the signalized crossing of College Avenue, continuing along Trenton Boulevard to Park Avenue and Prospect Street, has already been completed. This bikeway provides access to the Razorback Greenway.

The project is being constructed by the city’s in-house trail construction crew and is funded by the 2019 Trails Improvement Bond and the annual Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for trail construction.
