Snow affects end of Fayetteville school year

Thanks to a handful of snow days this year, Fayetteville students will be in class a little longer than usual.

The last day of school is now set for Monday, June 7 for all schools except Asbell and Happy Hollow, which will end the school year on June 17, officials announced this week on the FPS Community Blog.

Asbell and Happy Hollow use the Continuous Learning Calendar, which has three “intersession” weeks built into its calendar.

“If additional snow days are used, alternate make-up days, such as Saturdays, might be considered,” wrote Alan Wilbourn, public information officer for the district. “As of now, there are no plans to use Spring Break for make-up days,” he added.

Currently, Spring Break is scheduled for the week of March 22-26.

The third nine-week grading period has been extended by one week to end on Friday, March 19 and the fourth nine-week period will begin on Monday, March 29.
