Years from now, you might find yourself at a bar right here in Fayetteville sitting next to Ryan Mallett.
Mallett might be in town visiting friends, in between shooting Gatorade and Nike commercials after winning his third straight Superbowl, and he may be sitting at George’s on a Thursday night, just hanging out, waiting for the band to start.
When that time comes, what are you going to say to him?
After all, he will be one of the most famous Arkansans that has ever lived, and he’ll have rolls and rolls of $1,000 bills just falling out of his pockets onto the floor all over George’s.
If you vote at voteobrien.org and help him win the Davey O’Brien award, given annually to the top quarterback in all of college football, you could say, “Hey, Ryan Mallett. I voted for you man. Remember?”
“Yeah,” he’ll say. “Thanks. Let me buy you a beer. Say – I need to get rid of this extra Lamborghini. Could you take it off my hands? Here, take the keys.” It could be one of the best moments in your life.
Mallett is currently in third place in the fan voting for the prestigious award, and thanks to a social media campaign organized by the UA and Razorback fans this week, he’s moved up from 12th place in a matter of days.
The fan voting makes up 5% of the selection process, and voting closes on Nov. 21. Mallett needs about 12,000 or so votes to edge out Cam Newton (boo) for the top spot.
