As if you needed another reason to buy a ticket to the Lucinda Williams show this spring, the folks at the AMP have provided one.
Venue officials today announced that outlaw country singer and Grammy-nominated songwriter Billy Joe Shaver has been added to the bill for the May 1 show.
Shaver has written songs for Waylon Jennings, Elvis Presley, Kris Kristofferson, Patty Loveless, Willie Nelson, and countless others. He has also released more than 20 records of his own since his 1973 debut Old Five and Dimers Like Me.
He’s done all of that with only three fingers on his right hand (Shaver lost two fingers in a sawmill accident before his country music career began). In short, he’s a badass.
Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at waltonartscenter.org.
