Before singer/songwriter and former-Fayettevilleian Candy Lee Long moved to Jacksonville, Fla. last summer, she promised she’d be making plenty of return trips to town to play for her fans in Fayetteville.
It looks like she is going to keep that promise.
Candy is planning a fall tour that will bring her back to the area a handful of shows this week.
“Things have been going well in Jacksonville. I’m slowly starting get into the music scene,” she told us recently. “But I miss Fayetteville a lot.”
Lee will play three shows in Fayetteville while she is in town, including a Women’s songwriter circle show at Goodfolk on Thursday Nov. 10, a solo show at Greenhouse Grille Saturday, Nov. 12, and a reunion with her band, The Sweets, at Greenhouse Grille on Sunday, Nov. 13.
“The show I’m most excited about is the Candy Lee and the Sweets Reunion Party at Greenhouse Grille,” she said. Many people know that I used to work there, and it was the best job I’ve ever had.”
Lee, who will also play dates in Fort Smith and Eureka Springs while she’s in the area, said that she can’t wait to play with The Sweets again in Fayetteville.
“I have been playing solo in Jacksonville,” she said. “Every time I think of trying to put a band together in Florida, I just think of how it probably will never live up to the Sweets.”
Carter Sampson and The Phosphenes will open the Sweets reunion show at Greenhouse Grille Sunday night, and tickets will be $7 at the door.
