The 3rd annual NWA Trans March traveled up Block Avenue to the downtown square Friday evening as a kickoff to a weekend full of Pride festivities planned in Fayetteville.
An assembly gathered for about an hour at the corner of Block and Dickson Street before marching up the hill toward the Fayetteville Town Center at 7 p.m.
A rally followed at the Town Center plaza, hosted by Washington County Justice of the Peace Evelyn Rios Stafford, Arkansas’s first openly trans elected official, and featured a proclamation by Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan. After a few remarks, hundreds of people filed into the Town Center for the Trans Fest party.
It was the first of many events organized by NWA Equality in Fayetteville this weekend, which also includes the annual Pride Festival and Parade on Saturday.
