Fayetteville proposes extension to Stearns Street, feedback requested

(City of Fayetteville)

FAYETTEVILLE — City officials are seeking public input on a proposed extension of East Stearns Street that would connect Old Missouri Road to Vantage Drive.

Stearns is currently a dead end for both east- and west-bound traffic thanks to a 250-foot gap of undeveloped city right-of-way that separates the two road sections.

The connection would offer an alternative route for residents and customers to nearby businesses, but would increase overall traffic to some extent, said Dane Eifling, the city’s mobility coordinator.

“Public input is extremely important in the overall planning process for this project, so please take a moment to stop by the input session and/or fill out the online questionnaire,” Eifling said.

A drop-in input session will be held at the corner of Stearns and Foxborow Drive from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 31.

Also, a questionnaire is available at Speak Up Fayetteville, the city’s online engagement portal.

For questions about the proposal, contact the city’s Engineering Division at [email protected] or 479-575-8206.
