A group that produces team-based running events around the country is planning to host a trail run in Fayetteville next spring.
Ragnar Events will host the first ever Ragnar Trail Arkansas, a 120-mile run over the course of two days by teams of eight runners, on April 19-20, 2024 on the trails at Centennial Park and Kessler Mountain.
From the description of the event:
Teams of 8 (or 4) will set out to conquer three incredibly unique, clean single-track trails. You’ll run up and around the rollercoaster of world class mountain biking trails at Centennial Park. Runners will also flow through the lush forest of Kessler Mountain, surrounded by granite slabs, vibrant moss, and breathtaking views of the Ozarks.
When you’re not out there cruising through the course, you’ll kick it with your team as you camp under billions of stars at Ragnar Village. Rest your legs next to the campfire, chow down on s’mores, and relax with your team. Come early for a bonus day of camping, campfires, and fun!
Ragnar events began in 2004, and have grown to host thousands of runners at events around the country each year. The events look pretty fun. Folks dress up in costumes, and there’s a big campground to hang out at when you’re not running.
“For several years we have hosted successful Ragnar events in neighboring states, such as Texas and Kentucky, and could not be more excited to bring Ragnar to Northwest Arkansas,” said Amber Hardesty, Ragnar trail operations manager, in a press release announcing the Fayetteville event.
“We recognize the area as an outdoor mecca and activities such as trail running are extremely popular here,” Hardesty said. “The world-class trails at Centennial Park and Kessler Mountain are perfectly suited for trail running. Our participants will love the beauty and accessibility of these trails. We are excited to support the community, partner with local organizations, and look forward to returning here year after year.”
Early registration opened July 17, and is $1240 for a team of 8, $740 for a team of 4, or $400 for a team of 2. Fees will go up a bit as the race gets closer.
