Black-owned business expo returns to Fayetteville on Aug. 26

A semi-annual event designed to celebrate and promote local Black-owned businesses is scheduled in downtown Fayetteville this weekend.

The Black Owned Northwest Arkansas Business Expo is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26 inside the Fayetteville Town Center.

Organized by Black Owned NWA, the group first got the idea to highlight Black-owned businesses after moving to the area and looking for familiar and culturally-relevant health care facilities, hair salons, places of worship and other services.

The group launched an Instagram account (@blackownednwa) to serve as a curated guide to local Black-owned businesses, which has since grown to over 14,000 followers. A website directory is also available at BlackOwnedNWA.org.

This year’s expo will include about 100 vendors, offering items like vintage clothing, candles, baked goods, hot tea, alkaline water, and freshly-made samosas.

Registration is free (get tickets here), but donations are encouraged.
