We’re not psychic or anything, but we have a feeling it’s gonna be a better-than-average weekend in Fayetteville this weekend. At least, we don’t think we’re psychic. Heck. What if we we are? Guess we’ll find out in the next couple days.
How about a happy hour to kick things off. George’s will be doing their thing like they do after work every Friday with a performance by the Bel Airs. Later on, they’ll host a country show with Frank Foster and Wyatt Putman, and songwriters Corey Smith and Will Gunselman will perform on Saturday night.
Also in tunes, Nomad’s Trailside has a three band bill on Friday night with The Big Sad, Edgar Lee Island, and Vagabond Grove & the Drifting Heads.
It’s a pretty great sports weekend in Fayetteville. There’s a women’s basketball game at 10:30 a.m. on Friday as the Hogs take on Murray State. It’s the elementary school day, and they’re going for an attendance records. Those kids bring the noise. The men’s basketball team is in action on Friday night, taking on Gardner-Webb. The UA soccer team is taking on Grambling State at Razorback Field Friday night in NCAA tournament action, and there’s a Razorback football game versus Auburn at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Also in sports, The Jones Center will host the TAO Pump Track Championship Saturday morning in Springdale.
How about a show? Local troupe the Smokehouse Players will perform their new show Other Desert Cities at the old Ozark Mountain Smokehouse this weekend. UA Theatre has another weekend of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream planned, and Botanical Garden of the Ozarks has a few sold out performances of Murder Mystery in the Garden this weekend.
There’s more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
