Want to feel old? 2023, which just started only a few weeks ago, is almost over.
In fact, we’re halfway through December. Kids will be on holiday break next week. New Year’s Eve is in just over two weeks. Thanksgiving already happened.
We’re not sure how it’s possible, but this is where things stand. We did not see this coming.
Since it’s December, there are a host of holiday-related events, shows, and markets happening this weekend. For shows, TheatreSquared performs their new adaptation of A Christmas Carol at their downtown center. There are a few holiday markets this weekend, including FayetteVintage at the Fayetteville Town Center on Friday night, the Fayetteville Famers’ Market Winter Market on Saturday morning on the square, and a version of the Fruitcake adults-only holiday market that was in town a few weeks ago will be set up at Crystal Bridges on Saturday night.
Also in holiday-related fun, the Open Streets version of Lights of the Ozarks returns to the square on Friday night. The streets will be closed to car traffic to allow pedestrians to enjoy the lights safely. There will also be local live music, and the FayetteVintage holiday market we mentioned above will be open in the Town Center.
Music-wise, George’s has a fun show with the return of Andy Frasco on Saturday night performing alongside soul/country artist Maggie Rose.
Smoke & Barrel has a rock show on Saturday night with Fight Dream, Moonsong and Ley Lines, and local country band Statehouse Electric will play the American Legion on Saturday night as well.
On Sunday, local folk artists Still on the Hill and Smokey and the Mirror will host a performance and panel discussion about creativity called Story Songs at Folk School of Fayetteville. Here’s a bit more about that.
Also in performances, Walton Arts Center has Tina: The Tina Turner Musical playing, with several chances to see that this weekend. Details are here.
There’s more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
