Fayetteville officials have suspended trash and recycling pickup after snowy weather led to slick roads across the region.

The slick pavement has created safety and access concerns for heavy trucks getting into tight spaces and traversing hills, according to Peter Nierengarten, the city’s environmental director.

Residential and commercial collections will resume when road conditions allow for safe collections, Nierengarten said, and customers who have already placed bins and carts on the curb can leave them there until they are picked up.

Those who don’t want to wait for recycling services to resume can use either of the city’s two recycling drop-off facilities that are open 24 hours per day, seven days a week:

  • Happy Hollow Recycling Drop-Off – 1420 S. Happy Hollow Road
  • Marion Orton Recycling Drop-Off – 735 W. North St.
