It’s the weekend of spring break, which feels a bit like a preview of what it’s like in summer around Fayetteville. A lot of the students are gone, as are some of the locals, which means shorter waits at your favorite restaurants and a shorter lines at the bar. Soak it all in, everyone.
It’s also the beginning of March Madness, and though the Hogs’ men or women aren’t in the big dance this year, the first few days of the tourney when no one’s brackets are busted yet are always the most fun. The Arkansas women are playing in the NIT on Thursday night in Tulsa, so you might be able to watch that, and the No. 1 Razorback baseball team has an SEC series versus No. 23 Auburn Thursday-Saturday.
There’s plenty happening in Fayetteville this weekend as well.
The Great Benjamins Circus is set up at the Washington County Fairgrounds for 11 days this month, starting this weekend. The family-owned group includes generational circus performers, and each 90-minute performance includes clowns, acrobats, aerialists, and daredevils. Here’s more, including ticket info.
George’s will spend the weekend like they always do, celebrating some live music. Local favs the Nace Brothers will kick things off for happy hour on Friday night. Later on, Ben Del Shreve will play the late night show on Friday, and on Saturday they’ll host a rock show with Thru It All, Gardensnakes and Midnight Wagon.
Also in music (and theatre), it’s the last weekend to see TheatreSquared’s production of Cambodian Rock Band. Here’s a schedule.
West & Watson has a three-DJ bill on Saturday with Callico, DJ Anoc and Time Benda, if you have some things to shake off from the week.
Also this weekend, the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market will return to the downtown square for the first of two ‘Spring Fling’ markets as they gear up for official opening day April 6. The spring fling markets will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 and 30. Here’s a bit more.
There’s more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
