A hip-hop open mic and mentorship program at The Medium will kick off its fourth season this month.
The program, called Groundwaves, will resume beginning on Tuesday, May 7 at The Medium, located at 214 S Main St. in Springdale. The program is facilitated by rapper Murs, a Los Angeles-based performer and former member of the rap group Living Legends and vocalist in in The Invincibles.
Emcees can participate in the open mic, and also receive free one-on-one mentorship sessions with Murs. The mentorship sessions cover personal development, business, growth, and other topics, official said.
Groundwaves launced in Colorado in 2019, and has been a part of the programming at The Medium since 2000.
More than 100 artists have participated in the program, Medium officials said.
Sign ups for the open mic nights begin at 5 p.m. on event nights, and the music starts at 6 p.m. The mentorship sessions with Murs are available on the Wednesdays following the open mics, and are only available to open mic participants.
