Fayetteville Public Schools this week announced a new bell schedule for the 2024-25 school year.

Under the new schedule, middle school will start at 7:40 a.m. (the same as this year), elementary schools will start at 8:10 a.m. (10 minutes later), ALLPS will start at 8:25 a.m., junior high will start at 8:30 a.m. (both 5 minutes later) and FHS will start at 8:50 a.m. (20 minutes later).

District officials said the new school start and end times were revised with hopes of creating a more efficient bus schedule.

The new schedule also adds 15 minutes to the length of the school day for grades 5-12.

“This is a result of moving to a minutes-based calendar instead of a calendar based on the number of days of attendance. As a reminder, this change allows the district to incorporate the equivalent of five snow days into the calendar, meaning the first five days missed for inclement weather will not have to be made up,” FPS Superintendent John Mulford explained in an email to parents and district stakeholders on Wednesday.
