Weekend Flyer: Old Friends Music Festival, Hophaus, Newco, and more
There are other good times for this, of course, but it is probably the best weekend of the year to break out your Alice Cooper tapes. School’s out for summer.
It’s also Memorial Day weekend, so probably a few of y’all are headed out to a lake or river or something over the next few days. There’s also plenty happening in town.
Local DIY outfit The Hopout has partnered with Haus of Untz to throw a new party called Hophaus on Friday night at George’s Majestic Lounge. The event will include performances by DJ Girlfriend, Modeling, Rockelle, Stepmom, and Suzie Q. Tickets are $20 day of show. Doors open at 8:30, p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.
Also in tunes this weekend, locals Newco will play at George’s on Saturday night along with Magnolia Brown and Taylor Smith.
There’s a rock show at Nomad’s on Friday night with Ghost Hollow, Protohive, Demon My Friends, and Slumbering Sun.
Kingfish also has music this weekend, with Red Oak Ruse on Friday night.
Not in Fayetteville, but not too-far away is a new event called Old Friends Music Festival. The event takes place on some land near Prairie Grove, and is organized by local musicians Dana Louise and Noah Richmond. The lineup is pretty great, featuring music by The Creek Rocks, Dylan Earl, Jude Brothers, Little Mazarn, Creekbed Carter Hogan, Hemlock, True Lions, Bayard Blaine Trio, the Backyard Bugs,Trevor Reichman, Star Charger, Sage & Aera, Still on the Hill, along with readings by Ava Arsaga and Andrew Squitiro, and more. Ticket and camping information for the festival can be found here. It’s at 21581 Buckhorn Camp Rd in Prairie Grove.
There are not one, or two, but three local arts/craft/vintage markets happening in Fayetteville on Saturday. Sleet City will host a spring market on “the Pink Block” near Pink House Alchemy and Pink Ferm, there’s the Likewise Bazaar at Likewise Community, and Ozark Natural Foods will host a vintage market on their patio on Saturday. All three are at 10 a.m. on Saturday along College Avenue, so you could make a little morning of it.
There’s plenty more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
