This week’s featured pets available for adoption at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter are Bojangles, a 4-month-old, domestic short-haired kitty, and Tyson, a 3-year-old Shepherd mix pup.

Speaking of animals, one of our readers found a grey and white pit bull pup wearing a steel chain necklace and a white vinyl flea collar near Mount Sequoyah. Is this your dog?

The University of Arkansas creative writing and translation programs earned a top-ranked spot in the United States, according to Poets & Writers magazine.

In other UA news, Mayor Lioneld Jordan’s next town hall meeting is set for 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 inside the E.J. Ball Courtroom at the University of Arkansas School of Law.

Registration is now open for a coed Incrediball tournament to be hosted next month by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Fayetteville’s hotel, motel and restaurant (HMR) tax receipts saw another record-high this year compared to the same month in 2011.
