It’s been about 7 days or so since we had a weekend, so I guess y’all know what that means? It’s time for another one.
There’s plenty of fun to be had on Thursday this week. For one, First Thursday is happening on the square after work. This is the last one of the season, and will include music by Bootleg Royale, magic from Ozark Cirque & Professor Gallico, circus acts, a ‘glow roll’ group bike ride, local art, and more. Here’s more info.
Also on Thursday, comedian Leanne Morgan will perform at Walton Arts Center, there’s a big metal show at George’s with Crowbar, and the Walmart AMP will host rockers Shinedown, Papa Roach, and Spirit Box.
The Rewired Fest esports, gaming, and tech conference we mentioned earlier this week kicks off on Friday at Bud Walton Arena and runs through Saturday. The event will include video game tournaments, virtual reality, a tailgate party, a Creator Connect event featuring some top gamers and influencers working today, including the cast of Dude Perfect, along with Danny Duncan, Typical Gamer, Justin Flom, and Jon Youshaei. Here’s more info.
There are a couple big shows up north on Friday as well. The Momentary will host pop artist Rina Sawayama along with Empress Of and Disko Cowboy on Friday night. The Walmart AMP has an electronic show with Odezsa, Tokimonstra, Qrtr, and Olan on Friday night as well. Smoke & Barrel has a three band bill with Thru It All, Idle VAlley and Midnight Wagon, and George’s will host local 90s tribute, Mixtapes.
Community Creative Center will host their Pottery on the Patio event on Saturday beginning at 3:30 p.m. The event will include music by Funk Factory, an interactive art installation by Elby Mann, interactive activities, free ice cream, and more.
Also on Saturday is the fall installment of the Square to Square bike ride. This time, the ride will make its way from Bentonville to Fayetteville. Here’s more info.
Music-wise, there’s a big jazz show on campus with Bill Frisell & Ambrose Akinmusire set to perform at the Faulkner Center at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, local DIY organization Hop Out will host a big show at George’s called Bucket Brigade, featuring Modeling, Chrono Wizard, Sad Palomino, Peach Blush and Second Life. We interviewed the organizers earlier this week.
There’s plenty more below. Have fun, buds.
