Town Branch Trail at Beechwood Avenue (Google)Town Branch Trail will temporarily close from Best Way Street to Beechwood Avenue starting Monday, Feb. 19.
The closure is required for the upcoming 15th Street-Interstate 49 overpass project being constructed by the Arkansas Department of Transportation, according to a news release.
Throughout the closure, trail traffic will be redirected on sidewalks along Hollywood Avenue, 15th Street and Beechwood Avenue.
The detour is expected to last through mid-March.
Matt Mihalevich, the city’s active transportation manager, said the closure will allow crews to clear vegetation and replace water and sewer lines, which is necessary for improvements to both the overpass project and the I-49 and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. interchange.
Detour signs will be installed to direct trail traffic and provide warning of adjacent work areas, Mihalevich said.
Walkers, runners and cyclists are asked to observe the signs and provide adequate distance between themselves and construction work.
